Maple Tree is a pattern that evolved from a block of the month I designed for my local quilt guild.  The technique used is a combination of paper piecing without sewing through the paper, straight piecing and a little appliqué.  The pattern can also be done as mostly piece work.  The pattern for the individual leaves is the same with the background and stem directions that change.  Fall colors make for a very colorful quilt especially when each leaf uses a different combinations of fabrics.  Instructions include the mitered double frame and a quilt pattern for the outer border.  Skill level is intermediate.   The finished quilt is approximately 24" x 24".
